Malaysian trillionaire claims he’s the ‘Emperor of Indonesia’

A Tanjung Malim-born Dutch citizen claims he is a descendent of the Emperor of China and that his bloodline is linked to royal families in India, Java and Siam.

IT is not every day that you get to meet a trillionaire. So when I was invited to interview Kamal Ashnawi, a person I’ve never heard of, I said yes.

On Saturday morning, at a Kuala Lumpur hotel coffee house together with two of Kamal’s aides, I waited for the so-called trillionaire.

Wearing a baseball cap, long-sleeved shirt and jeans, he sauntered over to our table. The two aides bowed, pressed their palms together to their forehead as if greeting royalty and kissed his hands.

“We call him Tuanku as he is a sultan from Indonesia,” one of the aides whispered to me.

According to Kamal, he is a Dutch citizen born in Tanjung Malim, Perak, on Jan 1, 1964.

“I’m a descendent of the Emperor of China and in a history that went haywire, my family fled from China to Kedah. I traced my bloodline to the royal families of China, India, Java and Siam,” claimed the man who is also known as Raden Mas Prabhu Gusti Agung Ki Asmoro Wijoyo.

“I grew up in Tanjung Malim and my family here is very simple and ordinary. Nobody in my family talks about our royal blood and wealth. But my grandmother once told me: “You are special and, when the time comes, you will know.”

It was in Holland in the late 1980s that Kamal “found out who he really was”. A member of an Indonesian royal family, kicked out of the country by president Sukarno, told him he was of royal blood.

In London in the early 1990s, a lawyer told Kamal about his royal family’s massive wealth. Unconvinced, he told the lawyer to prove his claims.

He and the lawyer flew from London to Hong Kong to meet the “keeper of the royal treasure”. From there, Kamal and the keeper travelled to Kunming in China.

They hiked up a mountain for four hours and reached a cave guarded by an old couple who, Kamal says, are immortals.

“If you tried to pass them without their blessing, you would cough blood and die,” he said.

Inside the three-metre-high cave, Kamal saw gold bars stacked like a pagoda, US$15mil (RM46mil) in jade and US$10mil (RM31mil) in diamonds and stacks of US dollars.

“I took a gold bar and knocked it on a rock. It was really gold. The treasure is the wealth of the dynasties that ruled China. Their wealth was also kept in other mountains and in vaults all over the world,” he said.

About three years ago, when Kamal watched Nicholas Cage’s movie National Treasure, he laughed.

“The treasure in the movie was small compared to the wealth I saw in the mountain,” he said.

Next, Kamal told of his meeting two years ago in Kuala Lumpur with Dr Wong Eng Po, a royal physician from China.

Dr Wong placed his hand on Kamal’s bald head, then immediately bowed in front of Kamal and ordered his five followers to do the same.

“He said I was the reincarnation of Emperor Nurhaci (1661-1626) of China. He felt an energy on my head which was superhuman because an emperor, unlike an ordinary human, has to think more.

“I’m the reincarnation of two emperors of China,” Kamal added.

He elaborated that a few years ago, the royal family decided he would be the sole administrator of the royal wealth kept in secret accounts in about 1,000 banks worldwide.

“This means that 86.7% of the world’s money belongs to me,” he said.

Taking out several folders, Kamal said: “You’re lucky, I brought documents.”

He produced an A4-sized paper with the photographs of the national treasure, the immortal couple and several “official-looking” letters allegedly from HSBC certifying he has an account of five trillion euros (RM20tril).

“That is a small amount. I have more money in other banks and institutions,” he added.

I wondered why his name has not appeared in the Forbes‘ list of world’s richest people. And a suspicion lingered about his claims.

However, I could not authenticate his documents since the bank was closed for Chinese New Year.

Kamal has not made any withdrawal from the account as “it is not money that you can move just like that”.

“The money is under the control of Indonesia, Germany, Britain, the US and the Euro Central Bank and I’ve got to go smooth with them,” he said.

“I can’t use the money directly but I will invest in certain projects. Like three trillion euros (RM12tril) to green a desert in China.”

Curious, I asked what was the difference between a billionaire and a trillionaire.

He replied: “A billionaire needs to show he has the money. But for me, I don’t need to show that I got money. I can travel in a bus. I can wear slippers.”

Born in the year of the dragon, Kamal believes 2012 is his year. In March, he says he will negotiate with institutions such as the IMF to be recognised as the Emperor of Indonesia.

He says he’s rich. But his story could just be as rich.

Let’s hope he is not another Elie Youssef Najem, the so-called Lebanese billionaire who made headlines for all the wrong reasons. – The Star

On a general level, this year sees possible slow, negative or slow growth across the world for the 2nd half of the year . There are already sign showing since last three months, but as most government will take action to stabilize their economy , good prompt economy indicator will see good stable growth at least for the next 6 months .

Besides the credit crisis, the world economic woes are also slowed by the turmoil in the Middle East, where geological and political risk remain highs, thus causing higher oil prices that will fur the constrain global growth.

With economic unrest, we can expect the economy to take a uphill climb for a short while before going on a roller coaster ride with much turmoil foreseen which might cause Economic and financial policies to bubble which will need to rely more heavily on government intervention and support. Globally, the economic outlook is difficult, with countries such as Egypt and ones in South America near bankrupt and though they will get aid from other countries, it will not help much.

But as manufacturing companies can easily adjust and be adaptable in that they rather than making goods for exports, they can be made for internal consumption in China . Similar to Indonesia , who could not fare well in quality export product, it has generate good economy figure by focus manufacturing for local consumption during the last decade . This will help the economy and the lives of the people through reducing the chance of an increasing unemployment rate.

The global slowdown actually last gave China a good opportunity, where it allowed China to match the western countries in terms of economy in 2009 – 2010, that China does not only rely on exports and spending from outside. China did use this opportunity to manufacture high tech and high end or higher quality products for the betterment for China’s economy long term

ZITE (free) :

Zite is a free personalized magazine for your iPad that automatically learns what you like and gets smarter every time you use it. Zite delivers all the great news, articles, blogs, and videos you want – and helps you discover new stuff that you'll love.

When using the apps it prompts you to choose categories of interest. You can also let it check your Twitter or Google Reader accounts for your favourite topics. Based on that information, Zite builds a magazine with article from around the web. Graphics are sharp. Layouts are inviting and the recommendation get smarter over time.

SNAPSEED

It brings into the animation old days of Humti dumpty World but with interactive digital storytelling . The program is created by William Joyce, an illustrator and animator known for his works for Pixar, Dreamworks, Disney, and The New Yorker, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore blurs the line between a children's story ebook and an animated movie. Based on a short film of the same name, the interactive ebook can be as hands-on or straightforward as the user pleases thanks to buttons on the side that can turn off sound effects, the voiceover, and music.

Each page of the 27-page book has some sort of interactive feature. The user can help Morris Lessmore repair books, play the piano, and spin Lessmore's house around in the air when it gets picked up by a tornado. You will like the graphically stunning narrative that’s part movie- moviebook , where the pictures animate at your touch . you can turn up the volume, hide the text and let the app tell the story , or mute the narrator and read in the old- fashioned way. Point to rotate with the virtual world in at your finger tips

TOONTASTIC (free) :

A great storytelling app for adults and children, Toontastic takes much of the work out of an often- daunt task. Toontastic v1.4: Attack of the Megazoid Monsters includes three new playsets featuring Sir Stomps A. Lot smashing and grabbing through San Francisco, King Jinx taking a waffle-cone sized bite out of the Chrysler Building, and Mr. Lizard – that slimey scourge of a sea monster– terrorizing Tokyo

The app breaks down a tale into five basic components and adds cartoon scenes, music and characters for the storyteller to select. You narrate a scene. While dragging characters around the screen.

LIVING EARTH HD WORLD CLOCK AND WEATHER (US$1) :

A sea of more complicated and ambitious apps, Living Earth is beautifully simple, it offers a live satellite view of the globe so you can glimpse cloud cover in your area , while a graphic tells you the current temperature, you can add favourite locations and, for streaking weather events, you can take a snapshot of the globe and share it . When I first started the App up, the first thing I noticed was the super realistic blue marble on screen. The Day/Night, Light/Dark sides of the Earth are both brilliant, especially considering the cloud cover is accurate meteorologically and updates often with the changes in real life.

You can set up multiple time zones and flip through, and as you do the earth spins and focuses on the spot where it’s providing you the information for (with a faint white glow), you can also set the earth to rotate on its own, which is one of my favorite things to do. I set the ‘Leave Screen On’ while it’s on the dock on my desk and simply have it slowly rotating around and around, from day to night, while still providing me with the weather and forecast info, it’s a pretty and functional desk accessory.

While at this price, this App definitely fits the bill, I do hope that they stick to their word (in the App Description on iTunes) and add an alarm clock in a future update. If they can manage to add a few more functional features, they might be able to boost the price up, however, if they added an alarm and kept it at this price, they would have one of the best and most visually stunning alarm clock Apps available.

You can mark favourites, e-mail or tweet an article, or swipe through to the next article, Casual RSS users looking for a low-key way to read their feeds might find this reader to their liking.

Reeder for iPad

If you see Google Reader- the search giant’s free RSS news feed service-you’ll want this app . you can use it to browse your Google reader news feeds by feed or by folder, manage starred items, and share stories through e-mail and twitter.

When iOS 5 was released Reeder was quickly updated. And now that Google has removed features from their feed reader service, again the developer quickly released an update to address those issues. It's sad that we are losing functionality (thanks to Google) but it's great that Reeder is cared for by such a responsive individual. If you don't use Reeder to manage your Google RSS feeds then stop reading and download it now.

The app supports instapaper, ReadeltLater, Delicious , ( also known as del.icio.us) and Pinbard, and you can open articles directly in safari, it uses a binder metaphor for browsing through your RSS feeds; all your controls are conveniently lined up on the left. About the only thing you can’t do with it is add new feeds to your account, but every Google reader users I know swears by this app.

OmniGraffle for the iPad is the best thing I’ve found for creating flow charts and mind maps on my iPad, it combines the best of all three off the aforementioned programs and deliver them on the iPad. Touch screen- via what is possibly the best user interface of any iPad app read that again- I said any iPad app . I wish most of the other iPad apps I use regularly were as throughtfully designed, powerful, and easy to use as OmniGraffle.

What I like best about OmniGraffle is the way it uses Stencils. Stencils are collections of Pre-made shapes, images, and connectors to use in your documents, as shown in the figure on the left below. On the right side of this images you see the set Of Stencil libraries that come with OmniGraffle ; they include connections , Shapes, software, three-Dimensional, and several others. I’ve since added a bunch of third-party stencil sets for other uses- such as web flowcharts. Home-theater connections, video lighting, camera staging , and more.

Using stencil objects is a pleasure. Drag an item from a Stencil Collections onto the canvas and the object behaves just as you expect an object to behave- just as objects behave in your favourite desktop graphics applications such as photoshop, design, and so on, tap an object to select it or tap and drag to select multiple objects at once. Selected items have ‘’handles’’ on the corners and sides, just as you’d expect.

Print n Share

If you ever have to print documents on your Mac or PC –whether locally over your Wi-Fi network or remotely over 3G or EDGE- print to share is what you need. Plus, it’s so chock-full of other useful features that I hardly know where to start.

Print n Share is easy to set up. First install WePrint (freely available on their website) on your MAC or PC, and then download and install Print n Share on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Simply start up the app and let it know that you have WePrint installed and connect to the same network as the desktop running it. From then on, you can print any files directly on your iPhone that can be printed from the desktop running WePrint.

A nice touch for the app is the ability to print contact information from your Contacts section of the iPhone. Print n Share will access the information directly and provide you with several options for printing, including the much-required DYMO LabelWriter feature. This will let you print directly to the label printer. After you choose the printing template, Print n Share will pull out the information from your Contacts and set the rest up for you.

With that taking care of the Print part of Print n Share, you might wonder what about sharing? Well, the app can be easily configured to work in combination with your networked desktops, online services such as Box.net or MyDisk.se and even sync with your MobileMe account, so you can share your documents with any of these services and have them available on the go.

Let’s start with the basics. If you have a Wi-Fi – enabled printer , setting up printing couldn’t be easier , I launched print share on my iPad and it immediately discovered both Wi-Fi printers in my house, I could print to both within a few seconds of launching the app for the first time.WePrint and Print n Share make up a fully integrated system to take care of any print jobs on the go. With Print n Share on your iPhone and the WePrint Server as your desktop software, you're set to go, well, actually, print.

Bookfest is back in Malaysia for the fifth time this year. This time it is bringing along with it a bigger, wider and better range of books than ever before. It will be situated at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre @ Kuala Lumpur. The event will stretch through a total of five halls, from Hall 1 to Hall 5. Publishers and writers from countries, mainly Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom will be at this event. New books will be released, new authors will rise and definitely, more new business opportunities will open up.

However, with the new development in technology we are looking at Ebook readers and applications for books online. We do not see much of such technology being publicized and displayed during the last Bookfest in 2011 . We do hope to see more of such technologies being promoted for the coming show . The Savvies generations are now equipped with the latest gadgets, which helps them keep in contact with the rest of the world and If the leading book organizers were to promote books on these digital platforms, we may be able to entice the younger generation to read more again. FACE OFF! Between Captain America and the Twisted Gladiator-Ghostbuster

Director Chai Yee Wei is well known for his ability to create horror films which have the same tone and effect to those produced in Hong Kong and Thailand. His success was portrayed in his 2009 child-possession flick, Blood Ties. Now, he is back with a new movie, Twisted, a 3 part horror film.

In the first plot, it revolves around a drug dealer (played by Mark Lee) and his girlfriend (played by Candy Lim). He kills his pregnant girlfriend in a car crash and the haunting begins. He takes on the ghost on a one to one battle, and creates a make-shift armor from his car parts. Mark Lee’s comical battle does not pull through well, as the battle was long and there was no point for it.

The second story is more of a black comedy, rather than a ghost story. It is about 2 evil stewards’ attempting to drug and rape 2 hot stewardess. However, in their attempt, they killed more people accidentally than reaching their goals. There were no ghosts involved.

The last story has 2 mediums set on investigating on a possessed daughter and her creepy mother. It is a part-funny, part-serious story, but flows in the same old ghost story flow. Overall, Twisted does not have much twists its story and does not show its full scare-potential.

The poster of Twisted looks uncannily similar to that of our dear Captain America. With Mark Lee’s make shift armor mimicking Cap’s almighty shield. Was this intended by the director from the start?

Captain America is known to be one of Marvel’s greatest super hero of all time. Once deemed an unfit soldier, Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans), volunteers for an experimental program which turns normal humans into super soldiers. With his new powers, he was called Captain America. He is a beacon of hope to his country and his people. His story of his battle against Red Skull is well known to many.

Between the 2 films, Captain America is obviously having greater support than that of Twisted. However, Captain America’s film seems to reflect strongly on the previous James Bond film, a guy with plenty of gadgets. Overall, Cap America’s rating would reign higher for a 3 and a half star; half a star better than that of Twisted.
